From the balcony of Canterlot Rarity looked out the expanse of her Empire. All of it so regal and so grand. Only a Pony such as herself deserves such luxury. "Only I should be Queen. I am meant for this role!" Rarity's stamps her hoof and a her eyes narrow in frustration. "Oh Spike! Where are you? Spike!" Nothing. "Where is that Dragon?" Rarity saunter around the castle searching for him. These days it has been lonely as Queen. Definitely not what she was use to. There was once another pony around or at least she knew she had five ready and willing to lend her an ear or a hoof at any given moment. After all that is what friendship was all about. But seems she had forgotten about what it meant to be a friend. Or had she?
Rarity stopped outside Spike's room. Maybe he was inside. After all she made sure he had all the gems his heart desired. As she opened the door she sang out, "Spike... Are you in?" But has she opened her eyes and looked around no one was there. All that lied inside was the glinting jewels from the morning sun. Her cheerful smile turned to one of somber and confusion. Rarity didn't understand. "How could Spike leave me without saying anything?" As she walked to his window to peer out, her eye caught the frame on his table. A picture of Twilight. Suddenly the emotions of guilt and utter sadness filled Rarity's heart. "How could I have been so selfish?" The mutter of her words were barely audible but if anypony heard them they would know she felt wretched for being so heartless.
In all the glory of being Queen, Rarity almost could forget what had happened. Almost. She could feel the tears begin to build up and begin to spill down her cheeks. "I am so sorry Twilight." Biting her bottom lip to try and keep it from quivering she stared deep into the picture before slowly lowering her head, eyes, and ears toward the floor. Head hanging low and tears cascading to her hooves she wished Twilight was still alive. She missed her good friend. But as she thought of her friend she thought of her other so called friend, Rainbow Dash. As soon as the name crossed her mind she stamped her front hooves and she snorted, clearing her mind. "It is all Rainbow Dash's fault! All of this! I will avenge you Twilight. I WILL WIN!"
As abruptly as her thoughts of sorrow turned to anger Rarity turned and fled Spike's abode. She decided she would speak to Spike later. Right now she had some duties to attend to. "I dont have time for this." With her nose turned up and her gait sure she headed to her room. A Queen must be sure to look her best at all times. As she glided quickly across the ground she nearly runs into the unsuspecting pony before her. "Watch where you going!" The response was quite harsh afterall it was Rarity herself who wasn't watching where she was going. As her gaze met the bewildered ponies she regretted her harsh tone. Attempting to sound as Queenly as possible to salvage her not so mannerly prior greeting she looked to the pony and said "What can I do for you?"
